Nadia Jubinville

Nadia is a Partner in the Business Law group and Head of the Commercial, Privacy and IT subset. She brings over 20 years of broad experience across commercial, transactional and corporate areas, including in information technology (IT), privacy, governance, risk management and regulatory matters, having worked for fast-paced growing companies as well as for mature companies in regulated industries.

Nadia began her career with two top-tier Canadian law firms. Prior to joining KRB, her most recent positions included Chief Legal Officer/Corporate Secretary at a leading Canadian video game company and General Counsel/Corporate Secretary at a leading Canadian online grocery company. Prior to that, Nadia built and led high-performing legal teams in public and private companies, including at a global leader in audiovisual and entertainment technology, at a prominent telecommunication company and at a leading Canadian bank. She also has experience serving on various non-profit boards and as corporate secretary to the board for several corporations.

Throughout her career, Nadia regularly assisted companies navigate through strategic initiatives, growth plans (both locally and cross-border), complex litigations, e-commerce strategies, digital transformation and outsourcing projects. She acquired extensive commercial experience negotiating with top-tier companies such as Netflix, Amazon, Sony, Cirque du Soleil, IBM, SAP, MGM, Accenture, Bombardier, McKinsey and Disney. Nadia also led various M&A transactions and negotiated strategic outsourcing agreements, licensing, teaming and partnerships agreements. As privacy officer, she also advised on privacy and data governance, as well as on various risk management corporate matters.

Her collective experiences provided her with a unique mindset, allowing her to provide value-add advice combining strategic and operational imperatives with practical legal solutions. Nadia is recognized as a trusted business advisor who knows how to ensure business goals are achieved, helping businesses thrive, grow and scale.

Acted as legal counsel for a global leader in audiovisual and entertainment technology company and a leading Canadian video game company with respect to various M&A transactions and their successful integrations (in Canada, U.S.A. and Europe), supporting their international expansion plans

Acted as legal counsel for a leading Canadian online grocery company for the successful negotiation of various commercial, construction and real estate agreements, supporting the company’s rapid growth and improved operational efficiency targets

Acted as legal counsel for various Canadian companies for the successful negotiations of strategic commercial, licensing and partnership agreements, including negotiations with high-profile companies such as Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Sony, Cirque du Soleil and MGM

Represented a renowned telecommunication company for the successful negotiations of various multi-layered service agreements for telecommunications and IT services, with various corporate clients such as CAE, BNC, UAP and Bombardier

Represented a leading Canadian bank for the successful negotiations of various outsourcing and strategic IT procurement agreements in the context of operational digital transformation plans, including with service consulting firms and IT services providers such as IBM, SAP, Accenture and BCG

Acted as legal counsel and chief privacy officer for 3 companies, including initiating and leading the creation and implementation of privacy frameworks to ensure compliance with applicable “ laws (including PIPEDA (Canada), Law 25 (Quebec), CCPA (USA) and GDPR), including drafting various privacy policies and leading data mapping exercises for various privacy-by-design projects

Acted as legal counsel for the preparation of various incident response plans and policies, including leading the coordination of corporate responses to various privacy incidents, working closely with CIOs and CTOs to ensure cybersecurity readiness, efficient remediation plans and implementation of mitigation strategies
