Nathaniel Brand


Nathaniel is an Associate in KRB’s Banking and Finance Group with broad experience in several areas of law, including corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, securities law, bankruptcy and restructuring, and general corporate and commercial law. Prior to joining KRB, he practiced in the litigation group of a major international law firm and completed his articles at another national law firm in Toronto.

Nathaniel also performed a significant amount of community development work in Montreal over the course of several years. In addition to his legal studies, he recently completed a Master of Liberal Arts in finance from Harvard University Extension School, where he was a recipient of the Dean’s List Academic Achievement Award. Nathaniel is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Quebec Bar.

Assisted in the representation of BCE, Inc. and its $1.2B claim against the private equity sponsors following the failed leveraged buyout of the company

Represented Hf. Eimskipfélag Islands in its $1.2B acquisition of Versacold Income Fund

Represented senior bondholders of Stelco Inc. in connection with a total debt of $3B for Stelco’s restructuring under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act

Assisted in the representation of Blackberry during the discovery stage of an OSC investigation concerning historical stock options dating practices
