J. Robert Doyle
Partner
Rob is a corporate/commercial and real estate lawyer with particular expertise in banking and finance, equipment lending and project finance. Prior to joining KRB, he was a Partner at a top-tier Canadian law firm, where he started his career in 1978.
Rob’s practice includes corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate advice. He has broad experience in Canadian and international loan syndications and equipment financing, and has represented Canadian and foreign banks and other financial institutions while at the same time acting for mid‑market Canadian companies.
Representative Work
Acted on behalf of two financial institutions as co-lenders in connection with the financing of a 161-unit Class A LEED-Gold certified building, which houses major financial institutions, large law firms and numerous retail services
Acted for an international financial services corporation in connection with a €42M equipment loan to a subsidiary of a Canadian mining company in Mali
Acted for a major Canadian chartered bank in connection with a significant operating credit to a Quebec manufacturer of robotic arms
Acted for a major Canadian bank in connection with the refinancing of a Montreal-based chain of boutique hotels
Acted for an international financial services corporation in connection with a project equipment financing of over $125M for an iron mine in Nunavut
Acted for a multinational manufacturer of paper products in connection with the acquisition of a $60M tissue machine from a Scandinavian manufacturer
Acted for a major Canadian railway supply company in connection with the acquisition of a locomotive and railway car repair business and the expansion thereof in Quebec
Acted for a major Canadian bank in connection with significant standby credit facilities to a Montreal-based apparel manufacturer
Acted for an American lessor in connection with an equipment finance facility to a greenfield gold mine operation in the Yukon
Regularly acts for major Canadian and U.S. banks on single-lender and syndicated facilities
